HANNAH MURRAY : BIOGRAPHY
Hannah Murray (born July 1, 1989) is an English actress and is best known for playing the role of Cassie, a gentle, 'spacey' teen girl with an apparent eating disorder and unstated mental illness in E4's Drama/Comedy, Skins. Born in Bristol to university lecturer parents, Hannah grew up obsessed with JD Salinger and Bret Easton Ellis.

Hannah wanted to become an actress from the young age of 11. She joined the Youth theatre at the Bristol Old Vic where she particpated in various plays. It was also at the youth theatre that Hannah came to audition for Skins after being handed a bit of paper with the casting directors email address on. She got in touch and was asked to audition for the part of Cassie. Hannah did just that, and received two call backs before getting the part.

In an interview with LastBroadcast Hannah described Skins as being "more truthful and more exciting than other teen dramas". "It's a dream start, I know," she said, "and even my mother tells me nothing will ever be as good as this again."

Whilst filming Skins, Hannah got to work alongside such talent as Neil Morrissey who played Cassie's dad in the first series. Hannah says she was quite nervous meeting him because he was the first sort of 'big name' she'd ever met. However, after the initial shock of meeting Neil she soon felt at ease with him and described him as being "really nice, friendly and great to work with".

Hannah presented the award for 'Best Solo Artist' at the 2007 NME Awards with Skins co-star Mike Bailey, who played her character's love interest Sid in Skins.

It was announced on March 29, 2008, that Hannah's role—along with the roles of the other characters in the current series of Skins would be written out for series 3. The creater of Skins in an interview with Digital Spy stated that it was always the intention to change the cast around every two years because the show is about kids aged 16 to 18 and the time they spend at college.

But all is not lost for Hannah Murray. In May 2008 she will take to London's West End with critically acclaimed show 'That Face' which sees her portray a new character, Mia. Hannah's voice can also be heard in the new Nokia 5300 advertisement.

In 2008, Hannah also has a small part in the film 'In Bruges' starring Colin Farrell. After this Hannah announced that she would be taking time out from acting to attend Cambridge University where she will study English. "Studying English is all about interpreting text, which is pretty much what you do with screenplays," she said. "Hopefully doing my degree will make me a better actor. That's the idea anyway..."
